Live at Mississippi Studios, is a testament to the raw, unfiltered magic of their sound—a collection that pulses with longing, liberation and the undeniable chemistry between its members. Once driven by the dream of getting into a van and chasing the horizon, the band has transformed that restless energy into something bigger: emotionally charged, boundless indie-folk rock that feels both intimate and transcendent.
The EP opens with Kentucky Night, where Glitterfox channels the timeless spirit of Because the Night with a modern twist—imagine Fleetwood Mac fronted by Miley Cyrus. It’s a tale of love and risk, where harmonies shimmer and turn vulnerability into sanctuary.
Buffalo is an anthemic confessional, brimming with unparalleled yearning. Andrea Walker's guitar dazzles with Southern charm and twang, shimmering like headlights cresting a distant horizon, grounded by Eric Stalker’s bass, which anchors the song’s vibrant energy, keeping listeners rooted in its warmth. While drummer Blaine Heinonen’s tender percussion nurtures the song’s flame, building it to a climactic glow.
Married to the Ground sees Solange Ioga’s vocals dig deep into Southern soil before breaking free, carrying a haunting, triumphant energy reminiscent of Ann Wilson, Beth Ditto, and other rock ‘n’ roll avenging angels. It’s an anthem born from struggle, offering catharsis with every note.
The EP’s closing tracks, Honey and Scared Money, seemingly cement Glitterfox’s place as Portland’s patron saints of loving with abandon, betting it all, and creating soulful rock masterpieces. Honey steadily climbs with emotional intensity, while Scared Money feels as though it was pulled straight from 1979’s The Rose, radiating with retro rock ‘n’ roll energy. Both tracks possess the depth and passion that only they can deliver.
Together, these songs capture the soul of Glitterfox live—heartfelt, soaring, and utterly disarming. Rooted in love and resilience, this EP is a must-listen for anyone who believes in chasing dreams or a love too big for a van.
