After Portland's Eyelids & Athens' Jay Gonzalez (of Drive-By Truckers) finished their last East Coast tour together they swore to write (and dare) songs for each other to record. So Jay wrote Warning Light for Eyelids to arrange and record & Eyelids wrote Rare Halo for Jay to do the same. It's the perfect blend of all their lop-sided, heart felt rock coming together from all sides & places. And speaking of together--they all recorded a bonus track of Camper Van Beethoven's Oh No from their first record, Telephone Free Landslide Victory. But "Oh Yeah" they got Scott McCaughey (Minus 5, Young Fresh Fellows) to sing lead on it. A nice meeting of '85 headspace indeed.
It is a uniquely surprising, endearing and singular object of left turned music.
